Studio Policies

These policies have been formulated in the best interest of the student. The study of music and its performance on the piano requires knowledge, dedication and professionalism on the part of the teacher, as well as dedication, diligent study and good attendance on the part of the student. In order to ensure that an atmosphere conducive to the student’s learning and enjoyment of the music is maintained, the following procedures shall govern the conduct of the student’s curriculum.

  1. The teacher will guide, educate, and encourage the student in the development of the skills with which to succeed. In order to progress and receive full value of the lessons, and to perfect piano skills, the student is expected to take full responsibility for his/her part in adequate study and practice outside the lessons (45 min to one hour daily is the minimum).
  2. Regularity of attendance is essential to success. Students are allowed up to a maximum of 3 makeup lessons, as long as the teacher is notified at least 24-hours in advance. A free makeup lesson will be scheduled based on the teacher’s availability.
  3. Opportunities for student performance experience will be provided at appropriate intervals in the form of workshops, Studio and Branch Recitals, International, State or Local Competitions. Participation in competitions, festivals and auditions, plus performance in other local events are a stimulating addition to a musical education at any playing level. They provide goals, incentives, challenges, and different opportunities for students to enjoy and develop their skills.
